JON TRUEI is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker from a small town in New Jersey where he grew up shooting low budget movies about monsters, aliens, and kung fu with his friends.

His projects have been written about by Nerd Reactor, Geektyrant, Screen Anarchy, IGN, iO9, the Harvard Crimson, and Black Belt Magazine.

Jon’s directing work includes TenCent Video’s half-hour sci-fi/eSports C-drama GAMER’S GENERATION «电竞纪元», Reelshort’s action-genre vertical microdramas, BASTARD KING OF THE CAGE and RETURN OF THE REAPER, and the short films SECONDARY EDUCATION (a Power Rangers/Tokusatsu homage)  and THE 44TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN (a slapstick martial arts comedy).

Jon was also the fight choreographer of the silent, black-and-white adventure/comedy cult film HUNDREDS OF BEAVERS, for which he was a winner of the 2025 Vulture Stunt Awards.
